Now German carmaker Audi is set to launch its electric SUV after carmaker giants Honda, Hyundai and Mahindra announced new EVs to debut in the market
The German carmaker, Audi, has officially entered the electric vehicles market with E-Tron, its first electric sports utility vehicle (SUV). It has selected the US and Europe for its launch initially and then it will be arriving in India in 2019.

The German carmaker has officially entered the electric vehicles market with E-Tron. Equipped with a lithium-ion battery of 95 kWh, it can reach up to 100kmph in less than six seconds. The company said that this battery can power the vehicle to around 400 km on a one-time full charge. It can store almost 80 per cent charge in half an hour with the use of a 150kW DC fast charger.
It is powered by two carbon-neutral electric motors and has a combined power output of 360PS. Audi E-Tron is also ahead of its competitors. Its battery is of 95 kWh while EQC’s and Jaguar I-Pace’s stands at 80 and 90 respectively. In terms of speed, it is faster than Mercedes and Jaguars.
Audi has claimed that the SUV’s 402bhp and 490lb-ft of torque has helped in its launching from 0-62 mph within six seconds and then it was accelerated to a top speed of 124mph.
Audi has priced the SUV from $75,795 in the US. In India, the vehicle is likely to be priced above a crore, slightly above the Audi Q7 SUV. It will be available in the Indian market by the end of 2019.
The company has included recovery technologies and reduction in aerodynamic drag. It has a luxe interior, equipped with high-tech features. A high-end media centre, MMI navigation plus, LTE Advanced and Wi-Fi have also been included. The SUV comes with an assist for the ones in the driving seat.
Set to give a tough competition to Jaguar I-Pace and Mercedes-Benz EQC, the new electric SUV will be the debutant at the Paris Motor Show from October 4 to 14.
