Indian discom Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO) seeks to procure 500 MW of solar power from developers in its home state of Tamil Nadu.
TANGEDCO wants to contract projects of at least 1 MW and a maximum of 50 MW in a single location. Interested parties have time until November 18, 2016 to submit their bids.
The power discom has set the tariff at an upper limit of INR 5.10 (USD 0.076/EUR 0.070) per kWh. With accelerated depreciation developers can receive an additional INR 0.54/kWh.
With this tender, TANGEDCO looks to meet its Renewable Purchase Obligation (RPO) requirement, which stands at 2.5 per cent for the fiscal year 2016/17 and 5 per cent for fiscal 2017/18. To meet these targets, the discom needs some 1,200 MW of solar power this fiscal year and about 2,400 MW in the next one.
