We had earlier reported that Department of Electronics and IT had banned the recruitment of engineering graduates for entry-level positions. This one year ban seems to have finally come to an end and now graduates will be hired for entry-level posts.
Reportedly, the Department will be recruiting almost 300 engineering graduates as well as science post-graduates in the next three months. This will be for its associate organisations. These graduates will be hired for entry-level technical jobs such as scientists and technical assistants in about 14 organisations that come under the department. These organisations include National Informatics Centre, Education Research Network, Centre for Development of Advanced Computing, STPI and National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT).
Ashwini Kumar Sharma, NIELIT managing director told Business Line, “We will be coming out with the advertisement by the month end and plan to conduct the examination in April through about 25 centres across the country.” He is expecting around six lakh graduates and post-graduates to sit for the exam. The chosen ones will go on to become class-I officers who will get an entry salary of about Rs 40,000 a month.
To carry out the examinations smoothly, NIELIT has entered in an association with an external organization. Moreover, this will be the first time the institute is outsourcing the pre-exam works.
