Dell EMC expects smart city projects to drive significant growth through activities in internet of things (IoT) in India.
Experts of Dell EMC is of the opinion that significant growth in internet of things (IoT) is likely to be witnessed with the help of smart city projects.
The data storage and cloud services major said it is seeing fresh request for proposals (RFP) for smart city projects, reforms in the energy sector among other growth drivers.
Dell’s view on smart city projects
In an interaction with Economic Times, Dell EMC said its customers in India are increasingly focusing on business outcomes and looking forward to a convergence of cloud and on-premise. This has resulted in a higher use of IoT and AI to improve services.
Rajesh Janey, president, India Enterprise, Dell EMC said that they have not seen a slowdown in government projects. New RFPs are coming up around smart cities, power reforms phase II.
He further commented that the moment one comes to data centre, customers are looking at business outcomes instead of putting the pieces of technology together. Therefore Janey sees a lot of converged and hyper converged infrastructure along with lot of software defined things.
