According to the officials, the primary objective of the parade is to solidify awareness of the benefits of adopting electric cars.
To increase the adoption rate and sales of electric vehicles (EVs) in India, the Delhi government’s environment department has initiated an ‘e-vehicle parade’ at Rajghat in early October. Government officials said that over 500 EV owners will participate in the parade, and the registration link for those interested will be made official soon.
To ensure the event’s success, the environment department has also issued a tender worth Rs 5.76 lakh. The bidding will end on September 30, and the parade is expected to commence within five days of the tender awardee.
An official said that the primary objective of the parade is to solidify awareness of the benefits of adopting electric cars. Therefore, we are urging as many EV owners as possible to participate in the show to help meet our objective. Delhi, which is known for being one of India’s largest air-polluted regions, will counter this grave challenge once the adoption rate of EVs becomes high.
To reduce carbon emissions, the Delhi state cabinet unleashed the state EV policy in 2020. This policy offers ample subsidies for EV purchasers and targets electrifying one in four vehicles.
Delhi’s state Environment minister, Gopal Rai, believes that the government’s primary aim in the coming few months is to counter the augmenting air pollution level in the city. The challenge to reduce pollution becomes severe during the winter season, and therefore, meetings have been held with 33 departments to bring out an imperative strategy. Due to the assembly session on 27th, the readied Winter Action Plan will be presented before the chief secretary today.
