Monday, June 09, 2014: The Delhi government has reportedly set up three teams to study electricity generation through solar power for the Sabarmati Riverfront Project and the CCTV-based city surveillance system that has been employed in Gujarat. According to reports, the teams consist of senior officers, experts and power distribution companies. They have reportedly already embarked on a journey to the state to study the successful projects.
Further, the Power Secretary, Environment Secretary, Secretary in the Irrigation and Flood Control Department, representatives from the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DRC), representatives from the NDMC and Delhi Transco and DISCOMs, executive officer of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Management Centre, are all part of the team.
In addition, another team consisting of Environment Secretary, Additional Commissioner (Landscape) of DDA, Delhi Jal Board CEO, representatives of PWD and the Chief Engineer in Irrigation and Flood Control among others, will be working on the Sabarmati Riverfront Project, which has been undertaken by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation.
The team is reportedly going to make suggestions on how the concept can be used in the Yamuna Riverfront Development Scheme that is operational in Delhi. The last team consists of Delhi Police Officers, including the DCP (Communication) and Joint-Commissioner (Traffic), who have been assigned to the city of Surat in order to study the CCTV-based City Surveillance System that is in place there.
