Appraisal Committee at DeitY has reportedly approved proposals worth Rs 10 billion for establishing plants for manufacturing of mobile phones and making electronics components used in automobiles. DeitY has received proposals from two companies.
“There are proposals of around Rs 10 billion in field of mobile manufacturing and automotive electronics. Both proposals are from separate companies. Appraisal Committee at DEITY has approved these proposals. It has to be now approved by higher authorities,” PTI quoted joint secretary in the Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY), Ajay Kumar as saying.
The names of companies have yet not been disclosed by DEITY. “The proposal is from existing players who are augmenting their production in the country,” Kumar added.
The appraisal committee, headed by DeitY’s additional secretary, analyses the eligibility of the investors to get benefit under various schemes of the National Policy on Electronics 2012.
