CleanMax Solar, India’s largest supplier of solar power to corporates, has commissioned Karnataka’s first solar farm, and has begun power supply to Mindtree, a technology services and digital transformation company.
The solar farm is located in Tumkur district, with a total capacity of 30 MW. Power will be supplied through the Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (Bescom) grid to consumers in Bengaluru.
The supply will satisfy 75% of the power requirement at the Whitefield campus of Mindtree, a release said. It is a significant step towards sustainable energy for Mindtree, it added. The solar power supply to Mindtree will reduce about 2,800 tonnes of carbon footprint annually.
The solar farm has been developed under the Karnataka Solar Policy, which waives transmission and wheeling charges and cross-subsidy charges for solar power for 10 years.
