While Jagbir Singh has been serving the role of CTO before Jio’s launch of 4G services, Mardikar was chosen in this role for Airtel in January 2017
The Chief Technology Officers (CTO) of telco majors Reliance Jio Infocomm and Bharti Airtel have resigned from their respective positions. Jagbir Singh of Reliance Jio had started his reign in the company prior to the launch of Jio’s 4G services. On the other hand, Shyam Prabhakar Mardikar who had stayed with Airtel for 16 years has also quit from his role.
Jio’s Singh had earlier worked with Samsung and prior to that, he had worked with Airtel for ten years. Reports suggest that following the resignation, he will be moving back to Delhi. However, details regarding his post-Jio career plans have not been disclosed yet.
India’s number 1 telecom company, Bharti Airtel has however confirmed the news of Mardikar’s resignation. He originally began his stint with the company in its Department of Telecom in 2001 and served till 2010. He began his second stint with the telco major in August 2012 and was appointed as the CTO of the same on January 2017.
