In an effort to save power, the Chhattisgarh government has planned to set up solar power plants at 20 places in the state capital. The buildings include both government and private institutions such as Governor House, Chhattisgarh legislative assembly, Mantralaya in the new capital area, the police headquarters and collectorate, the Chhattisgarh State Electricity Regulatory Commission, Ambedkar hospital, the medical college, the administrative academy, the headquarters of the fisheries department, the divisional railway manager’s office, the railway station, the commercial tax building, the indoor stadium, the municipal corporation office, the National Institute of Technology, Hidayattulah Law University, Samvad Bhawan, RIT and Kanger Valley School. Solar energy installations would save 64,000 units of electricity every day in the 20 premises, worth more than Rs 100 million every year.
