Thursday, October 17, 2013: At a function to celebrate Juki Corporation’s 75th anniversary on September 5 in New Delhi, it was announced that the firm’s India country manager Chandramohan Natarajan was retiring, with Praveen Madan set to take his place. Praveen Madan has had stints in ASYS, Jabil Circuit and Philips EMT India.
Chandramohan has reinforced Juki’s sales and technical infrastructure in India to tap the considerable growth potential of this market. He had built a strong sales team ever since Juki ventured into India in 2006 and over the years developed a strong and loyal customer base, which enabled the firm to capture a good share of the surface mount technology (SMT) market.
“I educated the Indian electronics industry about the benefits of SMT machines. In fact, all these years, I sold SMT solutions rather than just a machine. It is more important to guide customers correctly than just sell a product,” says Chandramohan.
Praveen Madan takes over as the country manager of Juki at a time when the country is going through an economic crisis. “As long as this economic crisis persists, Juki will not bring any new products in the market and sell only the existing ones, and when the dollar becomes steady, we will bring in more innovative products. In the meantime, we will gear up for the market, technology wise and price wise. Our long-term goal is to bring in future technologies in the Indian market,” says Praveen Madan.
Madan aims for a growth of 50 per cent in the next two years. “We already have a wide customer base, and my duty would be to strengthen this even further by ensuring better after sales support. I would like to give them quick and efficient support, then it would be easy to capture a bigger market share,” says Madan.
Juki Corporation was founded in December 1938 when approximately 900 machinery manufacturers in Tokyo invested in the corporation and commenced operations under the corporate name Tokyo Juki Manufacturers Association. Headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, with subsidiaries worldwide, Juki Corporation has since its inception endeavoured to create new values through the art of product-making and the ongoing invention and evolution of technologies. Today, the company is effectively advancing business reforms on every operational front from development and manufacture to sales and marketing. Juki Corporation’s goal is to thrive in the Indian market as a strong global enterprise.
