Wednesday, December 17, 2014: The centre has proposed the set up of world-class technology centre at Atchutapuram for the micro, small and medium enterprises in North Andhra Pradesh. The ministry has decided to invest up to 1400 million for bring up this centre across an allotted area of 20 acres.
While sharing the plans, Visakhapatnam MP K Haribabu said, “This is a very big development to give a fillip to investments in the MSME sector. We have requested Union Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Kalraj Mishra to kick-start work on the project by laying the foundation stone.”
There was a positive response by the centre towards the technology centre proposal passed by the Visakha Autonagar Small-Scale Industrialists Welfare Association (VASSIWA) and MSME Institute at Autonagar, Gajuwaka. Notably, one such centre has been sanctioned for every state.
The centre has marked the guidelines for conducting quality checks as per accredited institutes like NBL and BIS and will also be giving training in high-tech as well as traditional trades, material and products. It will facilitate energy audit and environment management.
Ramakrishna Narappareddy, VASSIWA founder-president said that there are 2000 MSME units in Visakhapatnam district alone, among which over 200 are medium-scale enterprises. He further added that centre would help in improving their business and would also assist in upgrading their skills through training programmes.
