Saturday, May 31, 2014: The electronics industry in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh has a reason to rejoice. Central government has given its approval for electronics manufacturing projects worth Rs 886.5 million for the state. These projects will come up in Badwai (near Bhopal) and Purva (near Jabalpur) districts of the state.
The electronics projects are likely to provide employment to over 17,000 people in the state, said a release issued by the state government’s Information Technology department. The release stated that the cost of cluster project at Badwai is estimated to be Rs 483.4 million, wherein the central government will contribute about 50 per cent.
The remaining 50 per cent cost will be borne by the state government through the Madhya Pradesh State Industrial Development Corporation (MPSIDC) and the units to be set up under the project. The release statedm “For the project, 50-acre land has been allotted where world-level high quality facilities of power, water, road and other infrastructure will be provided. The project will be operational within 2.3 years.” The units are expected to have a collective investment of Rs 2,600 million, said the state government. “In them, 3000 people will get direct and 9000 indirect employment,” said the release. The cost of project at Purva is estimated at Rs 403.1 million. “The pattern of cost sharing for this project will be same as in Badwai cluster,” the release added.
