Eyeing to launch advanced AI drones for face recognition across various sectors, C-DOT has teamed up with Kerala-based startup Trois Infotech as a part of DoT’s funding programme.
The Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT), under the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), has signed an agreement with deep-tech startup Trois Infotech to develop “Face Recognition Using Drone” technology.
This deal is a part of the Telecom Technology Development Fund (TTDF) programme under the Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF), with C-DOT acting as the implementing agency.
In line with the government’s vision of “Atmanirbhar Bharat,” the collaboration aims to develop advanced drone solutions with industrial-grade, long-range cameras for high-accuracy facial recognition. These drones will incorporate AI and computer vision technologies, optimising performance even in low-light or challenging conditions.
Besides, the feature of “Face Adaptive Exposure Control Technology,” the AI hardware will also enable real-time processing and seamless communication via 4G LTE, 5G, and long-range Wi-Fi, which is beneficial for sectors like traffic management, emergency response, and defence.
Trois Infotech, a deep-tech startup founded in 2018 and based in Technopark, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, has already shaped its reputation for its expertise in AI/ML, embedded systems, IoT, smart surveillance, and telecommunications.
The company, with over 150 employees, develops technologies that combine advanced hardware and software to meet operational needs across sectors. Its R&D focus has led to innovations in video management, smart technologies, and enterprise solutions, expanding its reach in India, the Middle East, and Africa.
The agreement was formalised in a ceremony attended by several C-DOT and Trois Infotech officials, including Dr Rajkumar Upadhyay, CEO of C-DOT, and Mr Jithesh T. and Nandakumar T.E., CEO and CIO of Trois Infotech, respectively.
Dr. Upadhyay emphasised the importance of this agreement and ‘Made-in-India’ tech to meet the country’s diverse needs.
