As per a report by Reuters, a company executive of BYD said that the company will a new EV product and manufacturing platform next year. It added that Lian Yubo, senior vice president of BYD, made the remarks to an industry conference in Shanghai.
The report said that the executive added that it will cost less to manufacture new models using the new platform and the vehicles will have longer driving range per charge. Automakers from Volkswagen AG to Geely have introduced vehicle underpinning platforms to develop new models more efficiently.
Reorganised its wholly-owned subsidiary BYD Microelectronics
In April, BYD has reorganised its wholly-owned subsidiary BYD Microelectronics and renamed it BYD Semiconductor as a part of the preparation to list it in due course. BYD Microelectronics bought a 100 per cent stake in Ningbo BYD Semiconductor and Guangdong BYD Energy Saving Technology respectively as a part of the reorganisation.
