By the year 2028, IONAGE is projected to expand its infrastructure to include over 100,000 electric vehicle (EV) chargers.
The Maharatna and Fortune Global 500 entity, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), has announced the expansion of its partnership with IONAGE, an eMobility service provider based in Bangalore. This collaboration is set to enhance the ease of access and availability of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across India.
IONAGE simplifies the charging process for electric vehicle owners by consolidating charging stations from various Charge Point Operators (CPOs) into a single platform. This unified access was a driving factor behind the successful BPCL’s BPC eDrive Initiative launched in February 2022, which now integrates BPCL’s own EV chargers with IONAGE’s extensive network.
Pardeep Goyal, the Business Head of Retail at BPCL, shared his excitement about their ongoing collaboration with IONAGE, highlighting the importance of customer convenience and accessibility to charging infrastructure. He emphasized that BPCL’s charging solutions would be accessible through IONAGE’s comprehensive aggregation platform, enhancing service availability to their clients.
Vimal Kumar, CEO of IONAGE, commented on the partnership as well, pointing out that IONAGE aims to create a complete ecosystem that serves the needs of all electric vehicle owners and operators. He noted that working with BPCL, known for its rapid EV charging solutions, is a significant step toward expanding and enhancing the reliability of EV charging throughout India.
The agreement was formalized by S. Kannan, BPCL’s Chief General Manager of Marketing (Retail), and Shri Vimal Kumar, CEO of IONAGE, in the presence of Shri Pardeep Goyal.
The surge in consumer interest, coupled with governmental support, is steering India towards an electric mobility future. The establishment of public charging stations plays a pivotal role in achieving the government’s 2030 EV adoption objectives. The partnership between BPCL and IONAGE exemplifies the importance of collaborative efforts in expanding the much-needed EV infrastructure.
By 2028, IONAGE plans to include over 100,000 EV chargers in its network. This ongoing partnership with BPCL is essential for supporting India’s strategy to enhance the nation’s EV infrastructure and advance its transition towards electric transportation. By incorporating its charging stations within IONAGE’s platform, BPCL aims to boost user convenience and accessibility, thereby supporting India’s electric vehicle goals for 2030.
