Offering single-window clearance, land and power supply for investors, Bihar is finalising a renewable energy policy with business opportunities, says State Department Secretary.
The Bihar government is preparing to unveil a new policy aimed at boosting the renewable energy sector. On Thursday, this information was disclosed by Pankaj Kumar Pal, the state’s Energy Department Secretary.
Speaking at the ‘Bihar Business Connect 2024’ summit in Patna, Pal highlighted the state’s significant business potential and urged investors to seize the opportunity. The policy, which is close to being finalised, will be presented for approval by the Bihar state cabinet soon.
Furthermore, the policy will include a single-window clearance system to streamline the business setup process, incorporating feedback from the Bihar Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The state’s Energy Secretary emphasised various investment opportunities, including the manufacturing and repairing power transformers, smart meter facilities, and the development of pumped storage and floating solar projects.
To further support investment, the state government is also ensuring access to land, consistent power supply, and all necessary clearances. In addition, the government plans to establish three independent grids by July 2025 to guarantee uninterrupted power for industries.
Besides, Bihar is set to commission 185 MW of solar capacity with 254 MWh of battery storage and is planning large-scale battery storage projects as well as an 800 MW thermal power plant.
