Thursday, December 11, 2014: Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) is planning to set up an integrated solar photo-voltaic manufacturing facility in Maharashtra of around 500MW per annum.
Minister of State for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises G M Siddeshwara told in a written reply to Lok Sabha, “BHEL has initiated setting up an integrated solar photo-voltaic (PV) manufacturing facility of around 500 MW per annum in phases in Maharashtra subject to government approval regarding grant of 40 per cent capital subsidy under national Clean Energy Fund, to be completed in three years.”
He further mentioned about the two projects, which would be commissioned by first quarter of 2015-16. They were Grid-interactive solar PV plant of Neyveli Lignite Corporation in Tamil Nadu and Grid-interactive solar PV plant of Karnataka Power Corporation in Karnataka.
While replying to a question, Siddeshwara even told that three CPSEs – Container Corporation of India, Engineers India Ltd and National Buildings Construction Corporation Ltd have been given a Navratna status during the current fiscal. While having this status companies get more financial autonomy. He even added that the government is planning to set up an Industrial Machine Tool Park in the country. He noted that a scheme to enhance competitiveness in the Indian capital goods sector was been advised in November by the Department of Heavy Industry.
This scheme will involve setting up of Integrated Industrial Infrastructure Facility and developing an ecosystem for production with aim to make the machine tool sector more competitiv
