Recently, Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) signed an MoU with Bengaluru-based Emjay Control Systems Pvt Ltd to jointly manufacture and develop business for state-of-the-art, electro-mechanical bollards for use in various defence, homeland security, paramilitary and export projects. As per the partners, these bollards can withstand the impact of IED-laden vehicles weighing from 24,000-1,50,000 kgs and coming in at alarming speeds from 80-100 Kmph.
The press release stated that the bollards are meant to safeguard vital installations by pre-empting unauthorised entry of heavy vehicles. It further noted that the bollards have been indigenously designed, in keeping with the government’s Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat policies.
Just a few weeks back, the PSU also signed an MoU with the Indian defence ministry to supply Medium Power Radars (MPR) and Radar Warning Receivers (RWR).
Emjay Control Systems Pvt Ltd is a Bengaluru-based manufacturer of Automatic Retractable Bollards with manual override. The company claims to have Indian and US patents, with the brand name ISEQ (International Security Equipment). It has its manufacturing centre at Malur in Kolar district.
Bengaluru-based BEL is a Navratna DPSU under the Indian Defence Ministry. It was established in 1954 to meet the needs of the Indian defence services for electronics equipment, systems and services. BEL’s non-defence business segment includes electronic voting machines, satellite integration & space electronics, railways, AI, cyber security, energy storage products, etc.
