Battery Smart, India’s premier battery swapping network for electric two- and three-wheelers, has recently announced a significant achievement in their operations. The company has surpassed 100,000 daily swaps, supporting a network that now includes over 50,000 drivers. This milestone reflects progress in Battery Smart’s commitment to enhancing electric mobility, making it both accessible and affordable, and contributes toward India’s aim for net zero emissions by 2070.
Since its establishment in June 2020, starting with its first swap station in Janakpuri, New Delhi, Battery Smart has seen rapid growth. The network now boasts 1,100 stations spread across more than 30 cities in India. As a result, Battery Smart has become a leading figure in the battery-swapping industry, with over 40 million cumulative swaps recorded.
The company has expressed gratitude for the trust and reliability attributed to its services by customers, highlighting the acceptance of battery swapping as an effective alternative for accelerating electric vehicle (EV) adoption. The success is also seen as a validation of Battery Smart’s strategic plan to ensure the availability of swap stations within a 1 km radius of EV users, with no waiting time.
Battery Smart’s approach, which they call battery-as-a-service, offers quick two-minute battery swaps. This method not only saves time for drivers but also allows them to travel longer distances and reduce initial costs by up to 40%. The asset-light model used by the company facilitates the rapid establishment of new stations by utilizing existing infrastructure from local SMBs, thereby enhancing local economies and supporting the infrastructure needed for a growing EV market.
