Friday, October 31, 2014: India has now its first railway station, equipped with Wi-Fi facility, Bangalore City. The facility is said to provide high-speed Internet to passengers. The facility will be accessible on mobile phones, free for 30 minutes.
If any user uses the facility more than 30 minutes, then they need to buy scratch cards from the Wi-Fi Help Desk. The card rates will be like: Rs 25 for 30 minutes and Rs 35 for one hour and both the cards will be valid for 24 hours. More browsing time can be purchased online too through credit or debit card banking, as revealed by a senior railway personnel.
The Wi-Fi facility is being distributed by RailWire, the retail Broadband distribution model of RailTel Corporation of India Ltd. The official also added that the service has been inaugurated by railway minister Sadananda Gowda recently and it’s functional now. The official added that Railways has appointed RailTel to facilitate Wi-Fi Internet connection in all the major railway stations in India.
