January 19, 2015: Bajaj Electricals and Cisco have agreed to work together by actively participating in the Indian government’s project to built 100 smart cities.Both thepartners arelookingto finalise their go-to-market (GTM) plansby March. The planincludes development of products, their promotion and approaching customers for the same.
“Cisco would do the software applications and networking aspects such as routers and wireless applications while we will be in active services and fittings of radio frequency, video display, cameras and street lighting,” Sundararajan R, president, Bajaj Electricals- Lighting Business Group, told PTI.
Adding on to this, Anant Bajaj, joint managing director, Bajaj Electricals has said that in every city where Cisco will be involved, Bajaj Electricals will serve as the default partner, as per the agreement signed last month.
The government has allocated a hefty sum of $70.6 billion for its ‘smart cities’ plan and includes the installation of LED lights as a part of smart lighting solutions. Bajaj Electricals is expected to provide important contribution to this as it has got into the LED business recently and is already competing major players of LED including Philips, Havells, Syska and others.
