Indian solar power producer Azure Power Global Ltd has initiated construction work on a 100-MW solar project in Andhra Pradesh.
The company noted it has secured the required land and financing, and expects to commission the plant by the second quarter of next year.
The project was auctioned by Indian power utility NTPC Limited. It forms a portion of the 1,000-MW Kurnool Ultra Mega Solar Park and will be selling its generated electricity at INR 5.12 (USD 0.075/EUR 0.071) per kWh under a 25-year deal with NTPC.
Azure’s current solar portfolio exceeds 1,000 MW. Earlier in November, the company said it expects to have 520 MW of operational plants as of December 31, 2016 and between 950 MW and 1,050 MW by December 31, 2017.
