Eyeing IoT deployments for worldwide customers, Avnet and MACSO technologies joined hands to boost AI-based audio and air quality hardware solutions.
On Monday, US-based tech distributor Avnet announced its collaboration with New Zealand’s AI giant MACSO Technologies to enhance and expand IoT deployments globally. In this joint venture, MACSO will develop advanced AI models capable of integrating various sensors on Avnet’s components simultaneously.
Currently, MACSO’s AI models focus initially on audio and air quality, with plans to include vision, temperature, and pressure capabilities in this collaboration. By developing and licensing these models, MACSO will simplify AI adoption for customers, who can subscribe to and deploy the technology without technical expertise.
Although no financial details of the deal were disclosed, Avnet is supporting this initiative through its IoTConnect Partner Program. This program offers hardware, software, and engineering services to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and helps OEMs and design houses build new solutions and expand their offerings using Avnet’s comprehensive platform and services.
Commenting on the deal, MACSO founder and CEO Saba Samiei explained that their company is enhancing hardware by integrating AI models. She compared this innovation to a CCTV camera that alerts users about intruders on a staircase rather than needing a person to review footage later.
Jennifer Skinner-Gray from Avnet stated that their partnership with MACSO will accelerate the deployment of AI-enabled devices, helping customers enhance data-driven business outcomes.
