AutoNxt Automation, a player in agricultural innovation, commenced sales of India’s first electric tractor, with Jaywant Sugar Mills purchasing the inaugural unit. This significant event unfolded at the Yashwantrao Mohite Krishna Sugar Factory in Western Maharashtra, graced by the presence of the factory’s Chairman, Dr Sureshbaba Bhosale, along with directors and staff of the Y. M. Krishna Cooperative Factory. The launch also attracted a considerable turnout from the local farming community. Dr Bhosale hailed the introduction of the electric tractor as a pivotal advancement for both agriculture and industry, suggesting it will catalyze a revolution in these sectors.
Emphasising the alignment with India’s ‘Make in India’ initiative, Dr Bhosale underscored the tractor’s role in fostering sustainable practices within the agricultural and industrial landscapes, especially amidst potential fuel shortages. He also took pride in the fact that Kaustubh Dhonde, the founder and CEO of AutoNxt, originates from Wai taluka in Satara district, highlighting a local success story.
The AutoNxt 45 HP electric tractor boasts an array of impressive features, including the ability to transport over 15 tons of goods, perform operations like reversible ploughing and rotary cultivation, and travel about 50 km on a single three-hour charge. The vehicle’s battery supports both three-phase and single-phase charging, offering a substantial reduction in fuel costs and environmental impact.
During the event, Dhonde shared his vision of revolutionising farming in India. He stressed the economic and environmental challenges posed by traditional diesel tractors and positioned the AutoNxt electric tractor as an affordable, efficient, and eco-friendly alternative. This initiative marks a significant step towards modernizing farming techniques and reducing the carbon footprint of the agricultural sector.
