ASIP’s venture is positioned to make a substantial contribution to India’s semiconductor industry and its competitiveness on the global stage.
The ASIP OSAT/ATMP Project, a joint venture with a Korean partner, is set to invest ₹890 crore in enhancing India’s semiconductor industry by establishing a state-of-the-art facility in Hyderabad. This initiative was formally launched by Dr VK Saraswat from NITI Aayog, Dr Vishnu Vardhan Reddy of the Telangana government, and key industry figures. This project represents a major leap in India’s semiconductor manufacturing capabilities as ASIP takes the lead in offering OSAT/ATMP solutions on a commercial scale for the first time in the country. The facility, strategically situated at the Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC) in Hyderabad, is expected to start operations by 2025, further cementing India’s position as a key player in the semiconductor sector.
This venture aims to cater to domestic requirements while enhancing the global supply chain, with the support of APACT, marking a significant chapter in India’s semiconductor journey. ASIP’s commitment to providing comprehensive turn-key solutions of the highest quality and service underscores its dedication to excellence. Dr V. K. Saraswat praised ASIP’s choice of Hyderabad for its facility, noting the city’s favourable ecosystem and industry-friendly policies.
Dr. Vishnu Vardhan Reddy echoed this sentiment, highlighting ASIP’s role in strengthening Telangana’s status as a leading semiconductor destination. Venkata Simhadri, CEO of ASIP, emphasized the company’s goal to drive the Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) value chain, leveraging Hyderabad’s infrastructure and talent pool.
The partnership between ASIP and APACT marks a crucial turning point in India’s semiconductor narrative, with APACT bringing its expertise and technology to complement ASIP’s efforts. The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between ASIP and IIT Hyderabad further emphasizes their commitment to innovation and skill development.
As the OSAT market experiences rapid growth due to technological advancements, projections indicate a significant expansion in the coming years. ASIP’s venture is well-aligned with this trend, positioning itself to impact India’s semiconductor landscape and global competitiveness substantially.
