As part of its plans to strengthen green transport solutions, Ashok Leyland will be forming two new units through its subsidiary, Switch Mobility Ltd, which is a UK-based producer of electric buses and vans.
In a statement, the commercial vehicle giant stated that Switch Mobility Automotive Ltd will be its first unit. It will be a part of its global entity and carry on the electric vehicle strategy in India.
The company added that Switch Mobility Automotive Ltd would merge the company’s capabilities, both from Optare UK and Ashok Leyland’s EV Division, which will help fulfil its “aspiration of zero carbon emission transportation.”
Dheeraj Hinduja, Chairman at Ashok Leyland, said, “With a strong presence and proven expertise in the commercial vehicle market in India and the experience of operating a large number of electric vehicles successfully in India and the UK, we see huge opportunities for growth through Switch’s expansion in Indian and global markets.”
Its second unit, OHM Global Mobility Pvt Ltd, will focus on providing service mobility.
