Backed by the iQmine acquisition, Arrow Electronics is expanding internationally with new R&D centres, boosting automotive innovation.
US-based Arrow Electronics is expanding its international presence by adding new development centres in Munich and Istanbul, further strengthening its automotive centre of excellence (CoE).
With this, the company aims to enhance customer support in developing advanced automotive products, particularly in the evolving fields of connected, autonomous, and hybrid technologies.
The new centres will build on the existing capabilities of the company’s CoE, addressing the specific needs in areas such as vehicle connectivity and autonomous systems. Arrow’s recent acquisition of iQmine, an engineering services provider specialising in the field, will further enhance the centre’s offerings.
iQmine’s expertise in AUTOSAR (automotive open system architecture), ECU software development, functional safety, and vehicle diagnostics will assist in speeding up production.
The expansion comes as the automotive industry faces challenges in adopting these technologies, including a shortage of in-house engineering talent with the necessary expertise.
Rick Marano, president of Arrow’s global components business, highlighted the importance of the C.A.S.E. (connected, autonomous, shared, and electrified) framework as the future of the automotive industry. He emphasised that Arrow’s expanded automotive CoE, combined with the recent acquisitions of iQmine and Avelabs earlier this year, provides a comprehensive suite of engineering services to meet the growing demands of the automotive sector.
