Thursday, July 04, 2013: Under the solar policy for the state, Andhra Pradesh is set to see another 418 MW project for photo voltaic power generation. The state had floated proposals for 1000 MW projects and has received quite a good response for the first phase of 418 MW. The bidders are satisfied with INR 6.49 per unit price for power distribution as finalized by a group of ministers. The bidding process had the usual competitive bids that were offered for setting up the total 1000 MW projects. Among the 184 bidders for the projects 331 bids qualified for 161 different locations as notified earlier. The final selection saw 35 bidders accepting 418 MW projects with the purchase price of INR 6.49 for every unit purchased.
The managing director and chairman of AP Transco, Hiralal Samaria said that it is important to expedite the process of solar panel installation in order to bridge the gap between demand and supply and meet the requirement of customers. The Letters Of Intent have already been issued for 21 bidders concerning 14 MW projects. For the remaining bidders, the process of issue is already underway. Apart for the 35 winning bidders there are several others who have shown interest in the projects and want to be a part of the process.
The AP Transco and Discoms are already issuing technical feasibility clearances under the Solar Power Policy announced last year. Around 1200 MW projects have been sanctioned for grid connectivity and another 1000 MW to be commissioned under the competitive bidding process.
