Saturday, February 01, 2014: Anritsu Company introduces the Microwave Site Master S820E, the world’s first handheld cable and antenna analyzer with frequency coverage up to 40 GHz, which continues Anritsu’s leadership position in the handheld analyzer market it established with the first broadband Site Master over 15 years ago. In addition to providing the widest frequency coverage of 1 MHz to 40 GHz, the Site Master S820E offers field technicians, engineers and wireless network installers industry-leading dynamic range, directivity, and durability so they can conduct highly accurate measurements during the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of microwave communications systems.

Additionally, Anritsu announces the Site Master S820E will feature Vector Network Analyzer (VNA) measurement functionality. Bench Performance in the Field With dynamic range of 110 dB up to 40 GHz, the Site Master S820E brings performance typically only achieved with a benchtop instrument into the field to address the measurement challenges of today’s wireless networks. Best-in-class frequency resolution of 1 Hz provides maximum frequency flexibility for users. The wide frequency coverage provides high-resolution distance resolution, so the handheld analyzer can conduct more accurate Distance-To-Fault (DTF) measurements. A powerful processor has been designed into the Site Master S820E, allowing the analyzer to have a sweep speed of 650 us/data points, improving field productivity.

Site Master S820E delivers the highest directivity in a handheld analyzer for maximum field accuracy. It also features RF immunity of +17 dBm, exceeding any other microwave handheld cable and antenna analyzer, so users can acquire stable, accurate measurements in the harshest RF environments. Designed for measuring coaxial and waveguide systems, Site Master S820E conducts all key one-port measurements, such as return loss, VSWR, cable loss, DTF, phase, and Smith Chart. Users can also conduct two-port transmission measurements and two-port cable loss tests with the Site Master S820E. The analyzer features Anritsu’s easyTest Tools™ that enables tests to be standardized for repeatable measurements, as well as Line Sweep Tools for simplified reporting.

VNA Measurement Capability Anritsu is developing VNA measurements for the Site Master S820E. The optional software will expand the measurement capabilities of the cable and antenna analyzer to include key VNA field measurements, including full-reversing two-port S-parameters and time domain with gating. A vector voltmeter and A/B ratio will also be part of the software. Instruments within their recommended calibration cycle do not need to be sent into a service center to perform these software option upgrades.

Field-proven Design Maintaining the Site Master tradition of meeting the needs of field users, the S820E has a four-hour battery life, providing users with the most field uptime on a single charge. It also has the largest TFT touchscreen (8.4 inches) with best-in-class 800×600 resolution so users can easily view results in all lighting conditions. An intuitive graphical user touch screen interface that includes a large alpha-numeric keyboard with a customizable EZ name matrix makes file naming fast, easy, and efficient. The Microwave Site Master S820E meets MIL-PRF-28800F for use in explosive atmospheres. Compact, it measures 273 x 199 x 91 (mm) and weighs only 3.0 kg. Anritsu offers full temperature coax calibration kits from -10° C to +55° C for precise field measurements. A wide calibration temperature window of +/-10 C° requires fewer calibrations in the field to maximize productivity.

Highest Value The new Site Master S820E series includes many standard features which are cost + options with other manufacturers. Fully upgradeable (via software option) in the field allows customers to enhance functionality to meet their growing needs and ensures optimal returns on the investment. Delivery is four to six weeks ARO.
