Reportedly, rooftop solar panel will be set up by state-owned Agency for Non-conventional Energy and Rural Technology (ANERT) in a bid to strengthen country’s solar power generation. The agency is planning to set up 10,000 solar roof-top panels in Kerala, according to a PTI report.
Solar power has a critical role to play in improving the power situation of the state and these rooftop solar projects will play its part. Apparently, more than 6,000 persons had already registered for the scheme. Around Rs 93,000 would be made available to beneficiaries by the Central and state governments for the scheme, which costs Rs 190,000.
According to the report, solar panels with 1 KW capacity would be installed on the roof. The entire project is targeted to create 10 MW of power in the state. Also, power generated during the day can be reused by house owners as per their needs with help of batteries.
The solar projects need 12 square meter space to set up the panels and more than 100 units of power could be generated with this in a month, the agency release said.
Earlier we had reported about ANERT being on the lookout for experts to inspect the quality of the power units being set up. The chosen engineers will be trained and provided with technical information required for inspecting the plants.
