Andhra Pradesh government is going ahead in conserving electricity by installing agriculture solar pump sets and Krishna district stands top in the country among it besides receiving National award for the achievement.
As part of conserving electricity, N Chandrababu Naidu led Andhra Pradesh government is installing agriculture solar pump sets in a big way with the help of Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) of Central government. Each solar pump set costs Rs 4.20 lakh out of which the Centre would bear 33 per cent as subsidy. The farmer is to pay only Rs 55,000 and the rest of the amount would be extended by the state owned Distribution Company.
Krishna district Collector Babu A said that in the agriculture rich Krishna district 1,110 solar pump sets had been installed so far. The district had stood top in the country among 678 districts in solar pump sets and it is receiving a national award for the achievement on January 24.
In the first phase, 6725 agriculture solar pump sets were sanctioned by the (MNRE) to the state and all the solar pump sets were installed. In the second phase, the MNRE had sanctioned 10,000 agriculture solar pump sets to the state of which 1,650 have been installed and the rest of the pump sets would be installed by the end of March, 2017. After completion of second phase, the MNRE will sanction another 10,000 agriculture solar pump sets to the state, the Collector said.
