April 23, 2015: The Andhra Pradesh government has decided to distribute LED bulbs to domestic consumers, as part of Energy Efficiency & Energy Conservation (EE&EC) programme. Under DSM based Efficient Lighting Programme (DELP), a joint scheme launched by Eastern Power Distribution Company of Andhra Pradesh and State Energy Conservation Mission, 1.5 million LED bulbs will be distributed at Narashpur in West Godavari district.
P Sujata, Minister for Women Empowerment & Child Welfare, will launch the scheme on April 24 at Jangareddygudem in West Godavari district, reported the Economictimes.com.
This scheme is the foruth pilot project approved by the state government for the implementation of DELP. The rest three states are Guntur, Anantpur and Srikakulam districts, where 2.4 million LED bulbs have already been distributed.
Two units of 7W LED bulbs at Rs 10 each will be distributed to each household in the exchange for two units of 60W ordinary incandescent bulbs.
