This initiative supports India’s sustainable development objectives.
SUN Mobility and Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) have announced Anant Badjatya as the CEO of their new joint venture, Indofast Swap Energy Pvt. Ltd. This announcement follows a significant agreement between IOCL and SUN Mobility in June 2024, which targets the establishment of one of the largest battery-swapping networks in India by 2030. The venture seeks to bolster India’s focus on electric mobility by integrating IOCL’s extensive network of fuel stations with SUN Mobility’s advanced battery-swapping technology.
Anant Badjatya, formerly the CEO of SUN Mobility, brings more than two decades of expertise in the energy and automotive industries to his new position. He will guide Indofast Swap Energy in setting up an extensive battery-swapping network that merges Indian Oil’s 37,000 fuel stations with the pioneering technology of SUN Mobility, delivering efficient solutions for owners of two and three-wheelers.
Indofast Swap Energy plans to roll out a Battery-as-a-Service model to offer cost-effective and convenient mobility solutions. This approach aims to address the challenges of range anxiety and lengthy charging times, enhancing the accessibility and efficiency of electric vehicles.
Anant Badjatya expressed his vision for the company, emphasising their goal to become a key player in India’s mobility revolution and a familiar choice for two and three-wheeler owners. He highlighted their unique combination of cutting-edge technology and expansive infrastructure, which underscores their commitment to delivering practical, accessible, and environmentally friendly mobility solutions.
The establishment of Indofast Swap Energy supports India’s wider sustainable development objectives and aligns with the government’s initiative to boost electric vehicle adoption. Both IOCL and SUN Mobility are dedicated to improving battery management systems and expanding the charging infrastructure as part of this initiative, aiming to advance national efforts in sustainable and eco-friendly transportation solutions.
