United States based 8minutenergy Renewables LLC has announced that it will set up 4 GW of solar power capacity in the country, and this was communicated according to a statement released from the White House. Here it should be noted that India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting US currently and he has urged US business houses to invest in India.
“8minutenergy Renewables will pursue a 4 GW solar photovoltaic project pipeline in India. These utility-scale solar projects are expected to generate over 10,000 jobs in the construction phase in India,” the statement said.
It is a California based company which was founded by Martin Hermann and Tom Buttgenbach in the year 2009. The company presently has 300 MW of operating solar plants, and 400 MW of solar plants are in construction. It also has 3,000 MW of solar projects in pipeline of which a 800 MW solar farm to come up at Mount Signal, California is claimed to be world’s largest.
It calls itself 8minutenergy because it takes 8 minutes for light from the sun to reach the earth. “We take it from there,” the company says in its website.
