Monday, November 18, 2013: According to reports, Amara Raja Batteries Limited has recorded a net profit of Rs 945.8 million for its second quarter that ended on 30 September, 2013. The company had posted Rs 701 million for the corresponding period last fiscal.
The net sales income, excluding other income for the batteries major for the second quarter was Rs 8047.2 million, a growth of 12.37 per cent over Rs 7161.5 million it logged for the same period last year, reported Hindu Business Line.

Commenting on the news, Jaydev Galla, MD of Amara Raja Batteries said, “Sustained good performance continues to be in line with our annual plan, despite slowing economy, volatile rupee and sluggish demand in the automotive and UPS segments. The ongoing agitation in Andhra Pradesh has so far not had any major impact on the company operations.”
The boost is being credited to the automotive and industrial battery business, which witnessed a growth of double digits.
