The new integrated solution cuts development time by 20%, improving predictions for product lifespan and safety.
Altair has partnered up with LG Electronics’ Vehicle Component Solutions Company to create an integrated analysis solution aimed at extending the lifespans of products. This partnership has successfully shortened the development time for LG’s vehicle infotainment components by over 20% using Altair’s OptiStruct software.
Previously, LG Electronics relied on multiple software tools and models to evaluate fatigue damage, which led to prolonged analysis times and complicated model management. The new approach consolidates multiphysics-based analysis into a unified system.
Sam Mahalingam, Altair’s Chief Technology Officer, commented that this collaboration significantly enhances the prediction of product safety and durability, offering potential advantages to various manufacturing sectors. LG Electronics has leveraged its experience in mass-producing vehicle infotainment components to heighten the software’s precision and dependability.
This integrated analysis method is crafted to detect potential design-stage issues and to assess stress and strain under different conditions. Sangyong Lee, who leads the LG Electronics VS division research lab, noted that this partnership melds LG’s know-how with Altair’s AI-driven engineering technology.
OptiStruct is a part of Altair’s suite and is recognized as a structural solver that provides solutions for a range of analyses across multiple disciplines. It is globally utilized for design optimization and for validating structural performance.
While the companies have reported notable enhancements in efficiency and product longevity, the actual influence and broader adoption of this innovative solution in the industry are yet to be fully realized.
