Alt Mobility has entered the passenger car market with a focus on electric vehicles, providing leasing options aimed at businesses in the employee transport, ride-hailing, and tourism industries. This move is designed to enhance cost efficiency in operations.
Alt Mobility, a company that provides technology-driven electric vehicle (EV) leasing and asset lifecycle management, has broadened its services to include the commercial 4-wheeler passenger vehicle sector. This expansion aims to cater to the increasing demand for EVs in various services such as employee transport, ride-hailing, airport transfers, hotels, and tourism.
The trend toward electric mobility is gaining momentum in India, particularly as companies shift back to office work and seek eco-friendly transportation solutions. EVs are attractive not only for their lower environmental footprint but also for their cost-effectiveness compared to traditional combustion engine vehicles.
On average, EVs offer an 80% reduction in monthly operating costs and a 35% reduction in total ownership costs over a decade, factoring in battery replacement. The global market for employee transportation is expected to grow to $13 billion by 2030.
Cost comparisons between 4W-ICE (CNG) and 4W-EV vehicles show considerable savings. For instance, the operating cost per kilometre for a CNG vehicle stands at about ₹5.2, whereas it is only ₹1.2 for an EV, which translates to an 80% reduction. Moreover, the total cost per kilometre is approximately ₹7 for a CNG vehicle versus ₹4.6 for an EV, reflecting a 35% cost saving. These figures are based on the Tata Tigor Express 2.0 model, with assumptions of daily travel of 220 kilometres over 26 days a month and include expenses related to fuel, charging, maintenance, and battery replacement over ten years.
Dev Arora, Co-founder and CEO of Alt Mobility, discussed the challenges of fleet electrification in the 4-wheeler passenger segment, emphasising the need for reliable vehicles, adequate charging infrastructure, and operational hubs to ensure constant vehicle availability. Alt Mobility’s comprehensive fleet-as-a-service model offers businesses a complete solution for EV integration, charging, maintenance, battery refurbishment, upgrades, and uptime management, also aiding them in achieving ESG compliance and easing the shift to electric vehicles.
By providing EV leasing options, Alt Mobility helps businesses lower their upfront vehicle costs, enabling them to expand their fleets and operations with minimal initial investment. The company’s integrated approach also minimizes infrastructure costs and enhances fleet reliability.
Recently, Alt Mobility has partnered with several fleet operators such as Snape E-Cabs, Zero Leap, and Refex Green Mobility to deploy EV 4-wheeler fleets in cities like Kolkata, Pune, and Bangalore. The firm is also engaging with other operators to increase EV usage, which helps lower operational costs and improve efficiency, contributing to carbon emission reductions. By March 2026, Alt Mobility aims to add 3,000 passenger 4-wheelers to its fleet.
