Airtel also reported the lowest dropped-call-rates (DCR) while Vodafone showed the highest 4G upload speed, ahead of both Airtel and Jio
According to a latest report by the Telecom Regularity Authority of India (TRAI), Airtel has recorded the highest download speed ahead of Reliance Jio and Vodafone in the Delhi National Capital Region (NCR). The report shows that Airtel’s 4G download speed at 8.9 Mbps is higher than what Airtel and Vodafone are offering currently.
Vodafone has the highest 4G upload speed and MTNL has the highest 3G mobile Internet speed
TRAI had conducted an Independent Drive Test (IDT) between February 20 and March 16, 2018, around Delhi NCR regions including Ghaziabad, Faridabad, Gurugram and Noida. Based on this report, Airtel has recorded the highest 4G download speed of 8.9 Mbps with Jio at 7.3 Mbps and Vodafone at 4.9 Mbps.
Airtel has also recorded the lowest call drop rate of 0.3 per cent in Delhi NCR both on it 2G and 3G voice call networks. In addition to this, the telco company also showed lowest web-browsing and video-streaming buffering in the test.
On the other hand, the report highlighted that Vodafone has recorded the highest 4G upload speed in Delhi NCR. The telco giant has recorded a highest 4G upload speed of 5.8 Mbps followed by Reliance Jio and Airtel at 2.1 Mbps and 2 Mbps, respectively.
When it comes to 3G mobile Internet speeds in Delhi NCR, state-run Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) has recorded the highest speed with 3.7 Mbps – both downloading and website loading and streaming time. MTNL was followed by Airtel 3G download speed at 3.3 Mbps and Vodafone 3G and Idea 3G at 2.3 Mbps and 2 Mbps, respectively.
MTNL and Aircel faced with worst call drop rates
When it comes to worst call drop rates, MTNL and Aircel topped the list. These two telcos saw the worst call drop rates on 2G networks with 19.5 per cent and 5.7 per cent calls dropped in the survey, respectively. Telco big players – Airtel, Vodafone and Idea, all showed under 2 per cent dropped-call-rate (DCR) on 2G network. According to 3G network, MTNL reported a call drop rate of 8.3 per cent with Reliance Jio and Airtel reporting of 0.2 per cent and 0.3 per cent, respectively.
