Bharti Airtel is in talks with multiple handset makers to launch low price 4G smartphones to counter attack the telecom giant Reliance Jio. Last month, Mukesh Ambani led Reliance Jio announced, Jio phones at cost price of Rs 1500 which is also refundable after a period of time.
While Airtel is going with a range of RS 2500-Rs 2700 phones as the telecom company feels that customers can always spend more for a better quality product.
According to media reports, The Company is talking to various handset manufacturers to launch these android based 4G smartphones around Diwali.
Airtel is betting big on the festive season to get maximum leverage of the market condition. It’s expected, the phone will be enabled with Airtel’s 4G connections with lucrative data and voice plan to woo the consumers.
Reliance Jio will re launch their bookings for Jio phones after the company suspended the process last month due to over demand of the phones. The Jio phones are enabled with chips manufactured by Chinese chip maker Spreadtrum.
The chip maker is also in talks with other players to launch 4G features phones in upcoming quarters. These announcements from leading telecom giants will heat up the chip maker markets for sure. All the leading chip makers are now eyeing to build a partnership with the telecom providers to boost their sales.
