Flexible UMTS/HSPA+ 3G modules combine multi-band WCDMA and quad-band GSM technology.
The versatile Quectel UC20 UMTS/HSPA+ 3G module is now available from MSC. The module, which is fully socket compatible on three module sides to Quectel’s M10 and M12 GPRS Class 12 modules, ensures the greatest possible flexibility at relatively low cost, says the company.
Due to the combination of 900/2100MHz, 850/1900MHz multi-band WCDMA and quad-band GSM technology, the UC20 supports backward compatibility for EDGE and GPRS with multi-slot Class 12. Hence, this technology ensures global network coverage for M2M applications. The maximum data transmission rate for HSPA+ is 14.4Mbps downlink and 5.76Mbps uplink.
Diverse interfaces such as two UARTs, USB 2.0 high speed, Digital Audio (PCM), two A/D converters, extensive driver support for Windows, Linux and Android, highly integrated software functions such as File System, eCall and Firmware Update, and Quectel Enhanced AT Commands, provide UC20-users with an almost unlimited spectrum of possible fields of application.
Furthermore, the UC20 module offers a wide range of additional useful functions such as Rx Diversity, real-time clock support, wake-up functions, echo cancellation and SIM card detection. GPS and GLONASS support are also possible.
A complete UC20 development kit with hardware, software, specification, application notes, debug and test tool, approvals and test reports are available for evaluation purposes, says the company.
