Saturday, June 08, 2013: Andhra Pradesh government had floated bids, that would amount to Rs 6.49 every unit in solar photovoltaic power. As many as 34 bidders expressed interest and collectively have taken up projects worth 350 MW. The total bid is for 1000 MW. The response has been quite positive according to the Energy Coordination cell. Through a form of competitive bidding process, the state of Andhra Pradesh has planned a total capacity for 1000 MW. Out of the total number of bidders present at the organization, 34 of them showed interest on the Rs 6.49 offer price per unit. This price has been approved by group of ministers.
The AP Transco was directed by the state government last year, November, to float plans for 1000 MW renewable energy projects via a competitive bidding platform. According to the orders, the bidding process was conducted on e-procurement platform. The financial and technical bids for the subsequent tenders were opened this year on 15 February and 5 March respectively. In total, there were 181 bidders competing for 331 bids floated for 161 different locations.
The complete details on the bid were discussed in front of the group of ministers and they requested a further discourse in the matter. For the technically qualifying bidders, the offer price was set at Rs 6.49. There were seven bids accepted at Rs 6.49 every unit, each being for 53 MW. Apart from that 27 more bidders accepted GoM price for 297 MW with certain conditions related to increased capacity, locational changes and rate increases in the future.
