Indian government will be setting a 25 GW solar capacity in Ladakh, which is the highest solar potential area of India.
According to the report by PTI, Power minister, RK Singh said on Tuesday that the government will be coming out with a single bid for setting up 25 GW of solar capacity in Ladakh. He also emphasized on the use of renewable for sustainable development and that India will achieve its target of 175 GW of renewable energy by 2022.
Singh said that he is going to come out with a huge bid in Ladakh which is highest solar potential area.
“We have potential of 35 GW in Ladakh. So we will come out with single bid of 25 GW with storage and deliverable at Una,” Singh said to PTI at CII’s Government and Business Partnership Conclave.
He further said that the government will out with renewable bids with storage component. The government has come out with 10 GW solar bid with manufacturing component and government will come out with more such bids so that manufacturing can come to the country.
The capacity of 28 GW has been already bid out and 16 GW of renewable are at various stages of development.
About energy, Singh said that the growth without energy is not possible and India’s per capita consumption is one third of the world’s average. He also emphasized on the need to fix the way we industrialize.
