- The Indian government has set some ambitious goals to incorporate 500 GW of non-fossil fuel energy by 2030
- PLEXOS helps to predict how future events will impact energy supply, demand and pricing
Energy Exemplar recently signed a one-year deal with Tata Power. Tata Power will leverage the Energy Exemplar’s platform to optimise its power portfolio and engage in round-the-clock renewable energy modelling for one year. Additionally, they will continue renewable energy modelling for government bidding and hybrid projects, optimising operations at their hydropower plants in the Western Ghats of Maharashtra.
Energy Exemplar, the developer of PLEXOS modelling platform, has been helping India’s energy future. PLEXOS emerges as a valuable tool for decision-makers. It helps to predict how future events will impact energy supply, demand, pricing, and the requirements for integrating new energy sources.
The Indian government has set some ambitious goals to incorporate 500 GW of non-fossil fuel energy by 2030. Additionally, they plan to tender as much as 50 GW of renewable energy annually from fiscal years 2023-24 through 2027-28. The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy in India has issued guidelines for the bidding process for round-the-clock projects.
Soonee Sushil Kumar, Former CEO of POSOCO, said, “It is music to my ears that the entire Indian market is embarking on modeling the future of energy with PLEXOS.” Soonee effectively conveyed India’s energy requirements to Energy Exemplar CEO David Wilson and COO Prajval Parthasarathy, prompting them to organize a three-day PLEXOS training and certification event earlier this month. During this event, Energy Exemplar certified over 100 new platform users.
David Wilson, CEO at Energy Exemplar, said: “This agreement with Tata Power demonstrates our ability to serve India at scale and be a key part of enabling the energy transition. It’s been great to see the momentum building in India.
“With PLEXOS at their disposal, Tata, who have a long tradition of serving customers in India and are leading the way in clean and green energy in India, will be able to continue to light a clear path forward to achieving their ambitious sustainability goals, optimizing their operations and continuing to provide outstanding service to 9.5 million people across the country.”
