Prioritising the latest chip industry dynamics, the Semiconductor Association Pune’s recent event, ‘Semicon Symposium-Aug 2024,’ garnered enthusiastic participation as industry experts spoke on embedded technologies and AI.
The Semiconductor Association, Pune, conducted the ‘Semicon Symposium- Aug 2024’ on August 10 at the C-DAC Innovation Park in Pashan, Pune. The tech event, focussing on computing technologies and current industry trends, saw active participation from chip industry professionals, students, academics, and entrepreneurs.
The keynote speakers of this event were Mr Kuttappa Bithananda, General Manager and Country Manager at Imagination Technologies; Mr Sanjay Wandhekar, Senior Director and Head of HPC Technology at C-DAC India, Pune; and Mr Romesh Mehta, Managing Director and Site Head of the India Design Centre at ScaleFlux.
Additionally, the event showcased Pune’s local talent by honouring Mr Vinay Ashok Somanache, Mr Gaurav Bhojané, and Mr Anil B Dongare as ‘Inventors from Pune’ with the ‘Innovation Award’ for their US patents in chip design.
Over 120 attendees included site leaders from various fabless semiconductor companies in and around the region, industry experts, and representatives from notable educational institutions such as COEP Technological University, Pune Institute of Computer Technology, Pimpri Chinchwad College of Engineering, Vishwakarma Institute of Technology, and Symbiosis Institute of Technology.
Mr Bithananda delivered a keynote on “RISC-V for Embedded, Automotive, and HPC Applications.” At the same time, Mr Wandhekar shared advancements in HPC technologies, including the development of the PARAM series of supercomputers and C-DAC’s recent announcement of the indigenous HPC processor, AUM.
Mr Mehta, meanwhile, addressed the challenges of scaling hardware for AI in his discussion titled “Computational Storage for Next Gen AI,” which generated significant curiosity among participants.
After each session, the participants actively interacted with the panellists in the Q&A exchanges. According to the Semiconductor Association, Pune, this event is the city’s first of its kind.
