Indian surveillance camera manufacturer Sparsh CCTV has partnered with Saudi Arabia-based DAST to establish a CCTV manufacturing plant in Saudi Arabia.
The two companies signed the MoU at the India-Saudi Investment Forum organised by INVEST SAUDI, the Ministry of Investment, the government of Saudi Arabia, Invest India, FICCI and the government of India. Sparsh CEO Sanjeev Sehgal highlighted the significance of secure surveillance systems in safeguarding businesses, communities, and nations.
In an email response to queries posted by EFY, Sparsh revealed that the manufacturing unit will be located in Sudair Industrial City, which is situated 25 kilometres away from Riyadh. The facility will primarily produce cameras and recorders with an emphasis on products with eight megapixel and above resolutions.
“Initially, our focus will be on establishing efficient processes and ensuring high-quality production. As market demand and acceptability grow, we will expand our operations accordingly,” the company stated in its response.
The plant is set to begin operations in the first quarter of 2024. The company said that the manufacturing plan would be executed in phases. “Initially, we will import SKD (Semi Knocked Down) kits from India. Subsequently, we will progress to CKD (Completely Knocked Down) kits. It would be a phased manufacturing plan. The purpose is to be cost competitive in that part of the world with a local ecosystem,” it elaborated in the email.
At signing of the MoU, Mazyad F Alutaibi, CEO, DAST, expressed his delight at the partnership with SPARSH CCTV. “This partnership will not only help us diversify our business portfolio but also contribute to the technological advancement of Saudi Arabia,” he said. The companies are looking at targeting the Middle East and North African (MENA) market with products manufactured in Saudi Arabia.
DAST, a registered holding company, is a member of the Chamber of Commerce, Saudi Arabia. Its CCTV security solutions will fall under the umbrella of Rawand Security Surveillance Ltd and expects to obtain the necessary licenses by the end of October.
Established in 2002, SPARSH is an Indian Brand of CCTV cameras and electronic security solutions in India, with two in-house manufacturing units. The company claims to direct 7% of its annual revenue towards R&D and has a government-certified in-house R&D Centre.
