The state boasts a 15% contribution to India’s overall renewable energy, with a capacity reaching 20 GW and an ambitious goal to amplify this to 100 GW through the Green Hydrogen Mission.

In a recent announcement concerning the 10th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit set for January 2024, Gujarat’s Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel underscored the state’s prominence as a frontrunner in semiconductor and display fab production. This commendation came during a curtain-raiser event in New Delhi. “Gujarat is the pioneering state to implement the Semiconductor Policy in the nation, standing as the premier hub for such industries,” Patel stated.

The summit, themed ‘Gateway to the Future’, will have Prime Minister Narendra Modi officiating its inauguration on January 10, 2024. The Chief Minister believes that through this summit, the state will progress towards the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat @2047’. He emphasised Gujarat’s business-friendly ethos: “Our investor-friendly policies, seamless business operations, and well-established industrial framework make us the top choice for investors.” The summit highlights renewable energy, semiconductors, green hydrogen, and Industry 4.0. Concluding the event, Chief Secretary Raj Kumar accentuated Gujarat’s reputation as India’s most industry-friendly and investment-ready state.

The curtain-raiser witnessed participation from over 1,500 investors spanning diverse sectors. Prominent attendees included top executives like Dilip Oommen from AMNS India, Maruti Suzuki’s Hisashi Takeuchi, BK Goenka of Welspun Group, and Richard McCallum from the UK India Business Council. Highlighting Gujarat’s forward-looking projects, Patel mentioned the development of sectors such as aircraft leasing and fintech in Gujarat’s GIFT City. Additionally, Dholera Special Investment Regions (SIR) is on its path to becoming India’s most extensive greenfield industrial hub. Gujarat’s efforts in the renewable energy domain align with the broader vision of achieving a net-zero economy.

According to Patel, the Vibrant Gujarat Summit underscores the state’s developmental trajectory, positioning it as the embodiment of progress and the engine of India’s growth over the past two decades. The event provides a lucrative avenue for fostering business ties, disseminating knowledge, and propelling socio-economic growth. “What started as a mere seed with the Vibrant Summit has now flourished into a robust banyan tree, symbolising our state’s growth,” he added.
