UK May Collaborate with Tamil Nadu On Electric Vehicles

A delegation from the United Kingdom met a few officials of the Tamil Nadu government to identify opportunities for collaboration with the state on electric vehicles.

The United Kingdom is looking for opportunities to collaborate with India on electric mobility.

According to a news agency report, a delegation led by British Deputy High Commissioner Jeremy Pilmore-Bedford recently visited Tamil Nadu to explore areas of partnership with the state.

The delegation met Transport Secretary J Radhakrishnan, Transport Commissioner C Samayamoorthy and Subodh Kumar, Managing Director of Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation.

The officials discussed on innovative solutions for charging infrastructure development, grid management, renewable energy integration, vehicle to grid systems and city level planning among others.

Great opportunity in Tamil Nadu

In a press release, Pilmore-Bedford also stated that they see a great opportunity for cooperation between UK companies and Tamil Nadu on electric mobility.

He noted that while Tamil Nadu is a strong and established automotive hub, UK hosts many companies that are at forefront of EV technology.

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu has collaborated with the UK government to organise stake holder consultation exercises on electric mobility policies and technologies.

Pilmore-Bedford hopes that the meeting — the second in less than two months this year — will open doors to new partnerships and further strengthen the relationship between the two nations.
