Zomato’s last-mile delivery partners are expected to benefit from SUN Mobility’s battery-swapping solutions for their electric two-wheelers
In a recent update from the electric vehicles space, leading EV energy infrastructure and services provider in India, SUN Mobility announced its latest partnership with the food delivery giant Zomato to power 50,000 electric 2-wheelers across India. It is learnt that over the next two years, the EV company will utilise its battery swap solutions for last-mile deliveries of Zomato. “By deploying 50,000 electric two-wheelers in Zomato’s fleet, we are reducing our carbon footprint by 5,000 MT/month and contributing to a cleaner environment,” said the CEO of SUN Mobility, Mr Anant Badjatya. It is noteworthy that the collaboration has been confirmed in Delhi with an initial fleet deployment.
The partners believe that the swappable battery technology will enable the last-mile delivery partners onboarded on Zomato’s platform to easily and quickly swap their depleted batteries for fully charged ones at SUN Mobility Swap Points, hence decreasing the downtime for recharging and enhancing the efficiency of the last-mile delivery operations.
The COO of Zomato, Mr Mohit Sardana remarked, “Our associations in the past and now with SUN Mobility to swap batteries will accelerate the transition to EV-based deliveries, further helping us keep our promise of a sustainable Zomato for customers, delivery partners, employees and the planet.”
As per the official release, the move is in line with both the partners’ green vision. While Zomato is committed to ‘The Climate Group’s EV100 initiative’ that calls for 100 per cent EV adoption by 2030, SUN Mobility’s mission is to electrify last-mile deliveries in India.
2017-born SUN Mobility is a joint venture between SUN Group and Maini Group. SUN Mobility claims to have deployed 358 Swap Points in 18 cities to date, powering over 80 million km and over 4.2 million swaps in India.
