It is the first such partnership for the company under the MaaS model that aims to onboard 1 million electric vehicles by 2025
SUN Mobility has partnered with EV logistics startup Zypp Electric under its integrated Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) model. MaaS will enable Zypp to electrify its delivery fleets revolutionizing last-mile delivery solutions, said the company.
It is the first such partnership for the company under the MaaS model that aims to onboard 1 million electric vehicles by 2025. This will also be the first time that SUN Mobility will provide electric two-wheelers in the bundled integrated MaaS offering.
By the end of 2022, Zypp plans to onboard 10,000 vehicles including an equal number of loaders and two-wheelers across 10 major cities in India. The integrated MaaS service will provide Zypp with an all-in bundled solution comprising electric vehicles with the flexibility of an unlimited swap plan.
Akash Gupta, co-founder and CEO, Zypp Electric, said, “In our pursuit to serve the fast growing last-mile delivery segment we are delighted to have partnered with SUN Mobility for its MaaS model. This has enabled us to rapidly electrify and deploy our fleet of vehicles without having to worry about the high upfront capital, costly maintenance, and other issues pertaining to vehicles and batteries. Zypp and SUN Mobility share some great synergies and we are looking forward to scaling this partnership up with both electric L5 models and electric two-wheelers across the country.”
Chetan Maini, co-founder and chairman of SUN Mobility, said, “With Zypp we are on the verge of transforming India’s last-mile delivery. Electric two-wheelers are the most preferred last-mile delivery vehicle and we are confident that our integrated MaaS offering is further going to boost EV adoption in this segment. Zypp will benefit from the high-value proposition that our integrated MaaS model brings to the table, the bundled offering of the vehicle along with our battery swapping technology facilitated by our SWAP POINTS. Accelerated by the MaaS model we aim to deploy 10,000 EVs with Zypp on our platform in the next 12-18 months across the country.”
SUN Mobility also said it has commenced MaaS deployment for the goods delivery segment in major cities such as Delhi NCR, Bangalore, and Chandigarh and plans to further expand to other cities across the country.
The company has onboarded hundreds of such vehicles across many fleet operators and has a robust order book to deploy a few thousand more.
